My Top 8 | Simple Life Hacks

Here are some little tips that I have implemented in my own life that have been absolute game-changers.

  • Buy the AirTag or Item Tracker — I can’t even begin to count how many times it has helped me find my wallet when I’m supposed to be running out the door.
  • Organize your get-ready stuff in one place (keys, wallet…) — One basket, one shelf, one bin — whatever space you need have everything you use to get ready in one place
  • Prep your pills — If you take multiple medications, and especially if you cut your pills in half or crush them — buy a dollar-store medication organizer. It’s worth it.
  • Write an If-Lost paper for your wallet — Go grab your wallet right now and put paper in it with your Name and Phone Number. Trust me, I have tried to return a wallet dropped on the street before to no avail because I couldn’t find them on social media and they didn’t have any identification on them with a way to return it.
  • Create an “Important!” Binder – If you’re in school, invest in a binder that houses all the important documents you will get — medical records, syllabi, awards, housing paperwork, etc.
  • Buy the essentials and keep them on hand — you never know when you need those paper towels in your car for a spill, ibuprofen in your purse before going into that meeting (kidding!), bandaids because those new shoes need breaking in, emergency info, and more.
  • Ask for Recommendations for when there’s nothing to watch — to never be bored. Ask your friends and family for recommendations for anything and keep a running list:
Here are some recommendations to ask for:
  • Books
  • Movies/ Shows
  • Podcasts
  • Food Spots
  • Music
  • Games
  • Events They Enjoy
  • Local “Must-Sees”
  • Successful Trip Itineraries
    • You can even do a poll on Instagram or Facebook — you will get some great answers.

1. Digitize The Important Stuff

I used to work at a small Italian bakery/deli. One day a couple and their two days came in the day after a really crazy storm.

Digitizing your documents is one of the most important simple life hacks.

They told me a tree fell on their house and started a fire that basically wiped the whole place out.

Luckily they arrived when the fire just started so they went inside and rescued all their animals.

*** The biggest takeaway for me was that the husband was a police officer who was good under pressure. While she let out the animals from the burning house, he went into their living room, grabbed the flash drive with all their family photos, and left.

It saved them all their baby photos, family memories, events, trip photos — etc.

Therefore, this is your reminder to digitize everything***

I recently uploaded all my important documents into cloud storage. I realized if there was ever a fire I would be completely helpless. My tax returns, my passwords, my records, my 401k information… all of it would be gone.

I keep all the files in a fire-proof folder, but still… if they get stolen, everything will be okay.

I use the app, “LastPass “for all my passwords and photos of my IDs and it has absolutely saved me multiple times.

Trust me, the time it takes to sort through the documents, organize them, upload them, etc. is worth your peace of mind.

2. PLAN YOUR MEALS

Planning your meals is a great way to save money and eat healthy.

Planning ahead of time can help you avoid temptation, eating out, or impulse buys.

Making meals ahead of time will help you make healthier choices when it comes to ingredients and portion sizes.

If you know that there’s chicken in the fridge waiting for dinner tonight, then maybe it’s easier not to order pizza delivery when hunger strikes mid-afternoon! Or maybe this means being able to skip that post-workout snack because lunch was so filling!

3. PLAN YOUR WORKOUTS

Planning your workouts can be a good way to stay motivated and on track.

If you keep your workout schedule in mind, it will help you stick with it when the going gets tough.

Planning also helps reduce stress because it gives us something concrete and specific to accomplish, whereas just saying “I’ll exercise” doesn’t really mean anything if there’s no plan behind it.

When we have an actual plan in place, this gives us something tangible to work towards–and that feeling of accomplishment is incredibly rewarding!

4. SET A BUDGET AND STICK TO IT

When it comes to sticking to a budget, the most important thing is that you have one in the first place.

  • Having a budget helps keep track of all your expenses and makes sure that you don’t spend too much money on things that aren’t important (like expensive dinners).

The second most important thing is actually sticking with your budget!

Setting a budget is also one of the most powerful simple life hacks.

  • Set up an automatic payment system so that all of your bills get paid on time every month, then make sure not to go over budget when buying clothes or eating out at restaurants.

You may find yourself struggling at first; it’s normal for people who have never had any kind of financial planning before in their lives.

But eventually, if you stick with it long enough–and if nothing unexpected happens between now and then–then having a solid plan will become second nature for everyone involved: including everyone else around them who might be affected by those decisions later down the road as well as themselves personally too!

5. MAKE A SCHEDULE AND STICK TO IT

Making a schedule is a great way to stay on track and make sure you get everything done.

A good schedule should be realistic, but also something that you can stick with.

It’s important to plan your day ahead of time so that there will be enough time for everything in it.

If you have a busy schedule, try breaking up the tasks into smaller chunks throughout the day instead of trying to do them all at once in one sitting.

Here’s an example:

  • Wake up at 7 AM
  • Eat breakfast by 8 AM
  • Complete homework by 10 AM
  • Class until 3 PM
  • Workout by 3:30 PM
  • Study from 5:00 – 6:00
  • Enjoy your evening – 7:00

6. SET ASIDE TIME FOR MORE IMPORTANT THINGS

The most important thing to remember is that you should set aside time for the things that are most important to you.

  • Whether it’s spending more time with your friends, getting healthy or learning something new, planning is key.

Set aside time for your hobbies and personal interests–and don’t feel guilty about it!

If there’s something that makes you happy, then make sure to include it in your schedule. You deserve a little bit of fun every day!

7. MAKE A TO-DO LIST EVERY DAY

It can be overwhelming to keep track of everything you need to get done. Writing down your tasks can help you prioritize and stay on track.

This is a surprisingly powerful but one of the best simple life hacks.

By writing down everything you need to do and prioritizing your tasks, you can reduce the amount of time spent worrying about what needs to be done.

This can help you fall asleep more easily at night, knowing that you have a plan for the next day.

Additionally, crossing tasks off your to-do list can provide a sense of accomplishment and motivation to keep going. By consistently using a to-do list, you can reduce stress and improve your productivity.

8. TAKE BREAKS THROUGHOUT THE DAY

It’s important to take breaks and give your brain a rest. Taking a few minutes to stretch, meditate, or just step away from your work can help you come back feeling refreshed and focused.

Sleep is crucial for both physical and mental health.

10. PRACTICE GRATITUDE AND MINDFULNESS

Focusing on the good in your life can help you feel happier and more content. Take a few minutes each day to reflect on what you’re grateful for.

  • Mindfulness is the practice of being present and fully engaged in the current moment. It involves paying attention to your thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgment, and accepting them for what they are.

Mindfulness can be practiced through activities such as meditation, deep breathing, or yoga, and has been shown to reduce stress and improve focus.

Incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine can help you feel more grounded and present in your life.

Practicing mindfulness can help reduce stress and improve focus. Try incorporating mindfulness practices such as meditation, deep breathing, or yoga into your daily routine.

11. SIMPLIFY YOUR WARDROBE

Having too many clothes can be overwhelming and make it difficult to decide what to wear. Consider streamlining your wardrobe by donating clothes you no longer wear and focusing on versatile, classic pieces.

It is also important to invest in new clothes. Investing in new clothes can boost confidence and help individuals feel good about themselves.

It is also important to prioritize quality over quantity and invest in versatile pieces that can be worn in multiple ways. Ultimately, investing in new clothes should be done in moderation and within one’s budget.

12. SET BOUNDARIES

It’s important to set boundaries with your time and energy to avoid burnout. Learn to say no when necessary and prioritize self-care.

13. KEEP YOUR LIVING SPACE CLUTTER-FREE

A cluttered environment can lead to feelings of stress and overwhelm. Make a habit of regularly decluttering and organizing your living space.

Invest in organizers to help all your items have a “home”. It will take a ton of practice, especially if you have some bad habits, but it’s never too late to organize your space and clear up your headspace.

14. STAY HYDRATED

Drinking enough water is essential for good health. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and energized.

When you’re dehydrated, your body has to work harder to regulate your temperature, which can make you feel sluggish and fatigued.

This is probably one of the simplest of the simple life hacks, but it’s still one of the most powerful.

It can also cause headaches, dizziness, and difficulty concentrating.

In more severe cases, dehydration can lead to heat stroke, which is a medical emergency. To avoid these issues, make sure you’re drinking plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and energized, especially if you exercise.

Wrapping It Up …

With just a few simple life hacks, you can improve your organization, time management, and overall quality of life. From meal planning and digitizing documents to setting boundaries and staying hydrated, these tips can help you feel more in control and less stressed.
